This is by far one of my most favorite pictures of me and my son, Kyle, together. I really love this picture because it shows how happy we were when he graduated from high school and accomplished the first step in many steps of pursuing his lifelong dream. I can’t tell you what it is like to know that you may not be around when your child meets that special someone he wants to marry or when he gets the first big job opportunity. Or, maybe when he has his heart broken and just needs to talk to someone. There are so many thoughts that go through my head around what this disease will do to me and what that will mean for my life.  In terms of being a mother and being there for my son, all I can do at this point in my life is to make a lot of memories and to leave a lot of beautiful thoughts so that when those days come and I’m not around, he will reflect and he will know that he is special, he is my son and I love him and that’s really all I can do, isn’t it?
