Taking the Team Approach to ALS
Taking the Team Approach to ALS
This month I want to tell you a little bit about some of the wonderful people on Team Donna. Pictured here on the left are Mark A. Smith PT, of Elder Vibe Concierge Physical Therapy and in the middle and on the right respectively are Alex Grzebski, Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and Nolan McManus, owners of One Source Mobility Inc.
Mark (on the left) has 29 years of experience as a physical therapist, health advisor, coach and mentor to the team and is enthusiastic about the mind-body connection and movement as medicine. I can’t begin to say how much I appreciate Mark being there for me. Mark always goes beyond and above providing physical therapy and I deeply appreciate his many contributions to my overall well-being.
Alex and Nolan (in the middle and on the right) helped me remodel my home to be “ALS friendly.” Their company, One Source Mobility provides me with special transfer equipment and mobility aids, including a custom wheelchair, a ramp at the front door, and other equipment I use in my home and when I travel.
Without this team I wouldn’t be able to maintain any semblance of a quality of life as ALS continues to impact not only my physical body but my mind and spirit as well. It is because of the work of these gentlemen that I was recently able to take a wonderful trip to Oregon with long-time friends ─ no easy feat for someone in a wheelchair! But it is because of these efforts to make my life better, and the support of my husband, family, and friends that my heart is full and my spirit is nourished.
